Why do I need extra calcium?
Calcium is an important nutrient. After your weight loss surgery, you will absorb less calcium and thus need extra.
Calcium is an important nutrient that contributes to the maintenance of strong muscles, bones, and teeth. But after your weight loss surgery, you will not get as much calcium from food as before. You also absorb less calcium, especially as you age.
We recommend taking a total of 1500 to 2000 milligrams calcium per day. You can take your calcium from foods like chia seeds, cheese, yoghurt and sardines.
It can be difficult to eat enough calcium from foods after a weight loss surgery. Luckily, you can also get calcium from supplements. Our calcium has added vitamin D for even better absorption of your calcium.
Did you know...
that your body can't absorb more than 500 mg calcium at once? That is why you have to take calcium in doses of maximum 500 milligrams each divided over the day.
