I have problems with my bowel movements. What can I do?

Please consult your doctor if you experience this for multiple days in a row already.

Having a weight loss surgery has an impact. One of the changes is that the surgery reduces your intake of vitamins and minerals, which can affect your bowel movements. That is why diarrhea and obstipation are quite common after a weight loss surgery.

You can support your gut by:
  • Eating a balanced diet. Take fiber-rich foods like vegetables, fruit and whole grain products. Avoid high-sugar and high-fat foods.
  • Staying hydrated, drink sufficient water.
  • Exercising regularly to support digestion. Regular exercise like walking helps improve gut motility and overall health.
  • Avoid stress as much as possible - make time to relax.

If you experience the bowel movements for multiple days in a row, please consult your doctor for personal advice.
